Confirmation 2010-2011
Confirmation Ministry at Evergreen Lutheran Church is a three-year learning ministry for our middle-school age youth which includes 6th - 8th grade Sunday School (9:15 a.m. on Sundays) as well as Wednesday evening "Confirmation Classes" (6:00 p.m.). The purpose of Evergreen's Confirmation Ministry is two fold: 1) to help our young people prepare themselves for a public affirmation of the faith into which they were baptized (confirmation) and, 2) to train our young people to be leaders in and for the church.
Parent Orientation will be on Wednesday, September 1 at 6:00 p.m.
Class Schedule
We meet every Wednesday from September through May at 6:00 p.m. for dinner followed by Confirmation Class. Confirmation classes begin Wednesday, September 8.
Serving as an Acolyte
The word "acolyte" means helper. In the context of worship, an acolyte is a person who assists and helps the presiding minister as needed. As part of the Confirmation experience, the confirmation students are asked to serve as acolytes. The acolyte ministry provides an opportunity for them to serve as well as helps them understand worship from a different perspective. Kids will be given the option of early or late service. The Acolyte schedule for October through December will be posted soon below along with the Acolyte Instructions.
