Confirmation 2011-2012

Confirmation Ministry at Evergreen Lutheran Church is a three-year learning ministry for our middle-school age youth which includes 6th - 8th grade Sunday School (9:15 a.m. on Sundays) as well as Wednesday evening "Confirmation Classes" (6:00 p.m.). The purpose of Evergreen's Confirmation Ministry is two fold: 1) to help our young people prepare themselves for a public affirmation of the faith into which they were baptized (confirmation) and, 2) to train our young people to be leaders in and for the church.   Classes begin Wednesday, September 7 at 6:00 p.m.

Acolyte Schedule

The word "acolyte" means helper. In the context of worship, an acolyte is a person who assists and helps the presiding minister as needed. As part of the Confirmation experience, the confirmation students are asked to serve as acolytes. The acolyte ministry provides an opportunity for them to serve as well as helps them understand worship from a different perspective. Kids will be given the option of early or late service. Acolyte instructions and the acolyte schedule for September - October are posted below.  If you cannot serve when you are assigned, please contact the church office and we will find someone to replace you.

 Dinner at Confirmation

The current plan is to provide a light supper for our meal at the beginning of class. Parents will be asked to provide food for the kids and adults that gather for Confirmation. Please contact the church office, 303-674-4654, to sign up to bring a meal.  Figure on food for about 40 kids and adults.  You can sign up to bring one dinner or partner with a friend and two of you bring the dinner a couple of times.  If it is a finanacial burden, please know that we understand and only wish for your child to be here on Wednesdays.

Seventh Grade Memorization Handouts
Seventh graders are studying the main principles of the Christian faith using Luther's Small Catechism as a teaching and learning tool in compliment with the Bible. To complement that study we are requiring all seventh-graders to memorize the Lord's Prayer, The Apostles' Creed, and The 10 Commandments.  The memorization work needs to be accomplished at home. Please return the following papers with a parent signature before Christmas break once your child has memorized the assignment.

The 10 Commandments   The Apostles Creed   The Lords Prayer
